Car had a problem with the heater core. Was quoted $1,300 for the repair. The part was quoted (by Schneider) as a $450 dollar part. Went on Amazon, bought the same part for $100 and did the repair myself in an hour and a half. Behind the nice customer service, you can expect an overpriced service.
First, let me say I was disappointed to read your review and apologize for any misunderstanding. We work hard to ensure that our estimates are as realistic and accurate as possible and the quality and value of our work far exceeds our 2yr/24,000 mile warranty. But, estimates are among the most difficult things we're asked to do and telephone estimates are without question the most difficult of all. The questions are always specific and the information inadequate at best. Realistically, an Estimate is about the tenth step in a multi-step process that begins with harvesting information about the problem and then - hopefully - continues through a physical inspection. When give the opportunity to do that, we create a physical record of the estimate that includes Year, Make & Model as well as Vehicle Identification Numbe, Production Date and customer information when possible and keep it in our records for three to six months after the request. There is no estimate for a heater core replacement in our records within that periord with the exception of one back at the very beginning of May in which the core was actually estimated at under $100. Estimating installation labor without seeing the vehicle is tricky as well. In some cases the Air Conditioning Evaporator has to be removed to access the core which requires servicing the system. Both can add to the cost. Regardless, I would still would like to know more about your experience so that if there was a problem in the estimate or the process that created it we can fix it. You can reach me at the shop: 805.581.2340, most days, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Please don't hesitate to call.
